I am a fisherman, first and foremost. I have been fishing since I was 3 years old. My dad is a huge fisherman, as was my grandpa Jim before him. I grew up fishing in SD (Oahe, Chamberlain, etc), however, I've lived in the Detroit area since the late 70's. I spend as much time as possible fishing Lake Erie, the Detroit River and Lake St. Clair.
I am and always will be a "walleye guy" when it comes right down to it. My real passion is jigging for them in the Detroit River. I make my own jigs and harnesses, however, I decided not to chase that part of the business.
I ended up in the lure making business by accident. I started by buying some blanks and painted them for my own use. I tried them on Lake St. Clair and they worked great! I posted pictures of them on MI Sportsman's Forum and guys started asking me to make some for them. The next thing I know, I had more orders than I could keep track of manually, so I decided to make the company official and open the web-store.
We all know that some baits are designed to catch fish and others are designed to catch fishermen. I can tell you one thing for sure, these baits catch fish. I usually don't even add patterns to my catalog until I have tested them and caught fish on them myself. Unfortunately, in the bait business, they need to do both, so I will weed-out the patterns that don't sell very well. If you have a pattern that is no longer in the catalog and would like to purchase more, just shoot me an email.
Thanks for coming on this journey with me. See you on the water!
